In contrast to the other earth globes, this piece references in particular the scorched remains of bushfires in Australia, with its charred and broken surface. Even though I’ve used black clay, the aim is to create relief within the darkness through an assortment of glazes. I hope the result still offers life and interest, including fingerprints in the glaze, in its darkened and moody surface.

Pinched and coiled, with evidence of strong tool marks to create dimples, movement and texture to the form. Statement fingerprint marks are prominent on the upper sphere. High fired oxidised stoneware.
