Green earth

(1999-2007)

This era of work is recognised for its base palette of a trademark green and ochre slip applied to soft, loose forms. Post-college days focussed on exploring the rhythm and motion of the throwing process - I was enthralled by the fresh and spontaneous results of this approach. I envisaged a series of ‘tubby’ pots as bags of moving air, some fit to burst with their swollen and distended bellies. The parched, thirsty surfaces reflect observations of my first trip to Australia as a tourist in 2000.
